With less than 2 weeks until my high school graduation, I've been getting to go to lots of great events. And lots of lasts--this is the beginning of the end.
The first outfit is a scholarship luncheon I attended for the Florence Bell Hillier Memorial Scholarship I am honored to have received. It's given to a local high school student and I am so grateful to have been selected.
The second outfit is for my school's Senior Awards ceremony. I wore orange--(BECAUSE I LOVE UVA) and won the English Writing Award and the Art Purchase Award (the school bought my photography!). I was also inducted into the Cum Laude Society.
It's hard to look back on these last four years with any regrets. As graduation approaches I've been doing a lot of reflecting. For so long I've been so anxious to leave home, to leave high school, to get out of the house--because I am so incredibly excited for college. But I've also wondered if it's because I don't like it where I am.
Looking back now, reflecting on these past four years, I don't regret any of it. Yes, the school I go to is competitive and tiring and extremely hard at times. But if it weren't these things, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I am so happy where I am right now and where I'm heading, and I have only my past and the things that have shaped me to thank for that.
Without my family, my friends, my experiences, and the school I've at times ached to get out of, I wouldn't be this Rory. I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything.
I am more than content--I am happy.
